our technical note: the servo position control module of the sawing machine adopts combined sampling interpolation and predictive control to set the stop position of the feed cylinder, ensuring it halts precisely at the target point. due to electromagnetic-mechanical hysteresis and inertia, it is impractical to control the feed slide to move by merely 0.1 mm via simple on-off switching.
to ensure accurate feeding length and precision, the rear clamp retracts the feed slide to position lk first, then advances it to the preset position lt to cut off the feed solenoid valve. the rear clamp fastens the workpiece once the feed cylinder comes to a complete stop.

mechanical classification of sawing machines

1. circular sawing machine

also known as circular saw, it is available in automatic and semi-automatic models. the circular saw blade rotates for cutting and travels together with the saw head to perform feeding motion.
classified by feeding direction, it falls into horizontal type (horizontal feed), vertical type (vertical feed) and pendulum type (swing feed around a fixed pivot). specialized variants are also available, including swing-head circular saws for removing sprues and risers from large castings, as well as combined sawing and drilling machines for rail processing.

2. band sawing machine

an endless band saw is tensioned between two saw wheels, which drive the blade to execute cutting. band saws are mainly divided into vertical and horizontal types.
the vertical band saw features a vertically mounted saw frame. workpieces are moved during cutting, making this machine ideal for machining curved profiles of sheet metal and shaped parts. the band saw can be replaced with file chains or abrasive belts for filing and polishing work.
the saw frame of a horizontal band saw is installed horizontally or obliquely. it feeds vertically or swings around a pivot. the band saw is normally twisted by 40 degrees to keep saw teeth perpendicular to the workpiece. horizontal band saws include scissor-type, double-column and single-column structures. by operation mode, they are classified into manual type (economical manual feeding and cutting) and automatic type. based on automation level, they can also be categorized as semi-automatic (manual feeding) and fully automatic (automatic feeding and cutting).

3. hack sawing machine

this machine uses a reciprocating saw bow fitted with saw blades, and its frame swings around a fixed point for feeding. it has a simple, compact structure yet relatively low efficiency. the saw blade moves in two paths: straight line and arc.
for arc movement, the saw bow swings within a small angle. this design delivers larger cutting depth per tooth, facilitates chip removal and boosts working efficiency, so it is widely applied on most new-generation hack saws.

installation and commissioning guidelines

  1. fill the machine with sufficient hydraulic oil, and apply lubricant to all sliding and rotating components.

  2. mount the band saw onto the machine. turn the handle on the left side of the saw frame to adjust the tension device and tension the blade properly. adjust the contact of the travel switch to keep it touching the stop dog and staying open.

  3. fill the cooling tank with adequate coolant.

  4. connect the power supply with standard and reliable grounding. turn on the power switch on the electrical control box and run the machine for a test. adjust the wiring to make sure the blade rotates in the direction marked on the nameplate, and check for abnormal noise.

during operation, the saw bow descends automatically until the blade is 0.5 to 1 mm below the worktable. it rises when the limit switch touches the protrusion and stops at the preset height. repeat this test three times. afterwards, release the tension device to separate the travel switch from the protrusion, then cut off the power. conduct the full test three times in a row.
5. inspect the lifting cylinder assembly to verify smooth and reliable up-and-down movement of the saw bow.
6. check the clamping and unclamping cylinder assembly to ensure firm clamping and flexible release.
7. turn the speed knob to gear 1 (low speed) for trial run, then switch to gear 2 (high speed). repeat the test three times.
8. when the main motor is started, the water pump activates simultaneously to operate the cooling system. adjust the valves and confirm unobstructed coolant flow.
9. clamp and fasten the workpiece, then perform trial cutting after all above steps are completed.
